The narrative of the financial crisis was riveting as Paulson was sitting in the catbird seat as the economy unraveled. I didn't appreciate how hard the treasury was working and how ad hoc their measures were at the time. Paulson is both diplomatic and complimentary to most of the political and financial leaders that he worked with at the time.
Paulson is very complementary of the pragmatic attitude that President Bush took during the crisis. However, the circus atmosphere that prevailed when John McCain suspended his campaign and called for a political summit in October is very scary - but entertaining in retrospect. Bush's own account in his memoir glosses over the acrimony.
Didn't much care for the biographical info in the book but recognized it as a necessity
