In fact, the Nile River cuts right through the largest desert in the world, the Sahara. Along the banks of the Nile, however, life is possible. The Nile brings drinking water to people. It allows farmers to raise crops. People fish in the Nile's waters. The river provides a transportation channel so people can travel on boats. Thousands of years ago.
