Thereare twenty lessons, and teachers may cover them in any order. Theyare not graded, and each one contains very simple as well as moredifficult and less frequently-used language items. While there is acertain logic to the presentation of the subject matter of theconversations, the level of difficulty remains more or less uniformthroughout. Early lessons treat greetings, introductions, and smalltalk – topics and functions which often occur early inrelationships or in initial encounters with strangers.
