A Subject Guide to Quality Web Sites

Description

Compiled by the director of library services at the Tinley Park, Illinois, campus of DeVry University, this volume presents more than 4,200 key websites in 16 disciplines, touching on subjects of use to patrons and researchers from grade school to postgraduate. Sites included were evaluated for arrangement, authority, currency, relevance, and scope. Each chapter, or discipline, is arranged alphabetically by subdiscipline, with sites arranged in each alphabetically by the title of the site. Each entry contains the site name, URL, and an annotation of varying length. The lack of subdisciplines listed either in the front of the book or as guidewords makes this a hard volume to use without familiarity with the content, and it is also difficult to find where new entries begin on the page. Considering the volatility of websites, this volume would be better as an online resource with regular updating, and with better finding aids included.
