Planets in Binary Star Systems

Description

Thisbook is intended to introduce the field of a well-established and anindependent branch of exoplanetary science to the community. In doingso, this volume presents the reader with the current state of theresearch on the detection and formation of planets in binary stars, written by teams of experts on these topics. The first half of thebook focuses on the observational evidence for the birthplace ofplanets in binary systems, and techniques of detecting planets in andaround dual-stars. The second half discusses the status oftheoretical research on the formation of planets in binaries, fromplanetesimals, to planetary embryos, and eventually to giant andterrestrial planets. The last chapter presents a complete review ofthe dynamics of planets in binary star systems and the possibility ofhabitable planet formation in these environments.
